The Delaware has been on the APA list of threatened breeds for several decades now. Through persistent and careful breeding by dedicated fanciers the Delaware is enjoying resurgence in popularity for their great egg laying capabilities, superiority of meat production and their very charming disposition. It has often been said that one does not own the Delaware, but rather that they own you!
We believe the club and site will give encouragement to all who have an interest in the Delaware by providing expert advise, practical tips on breeding and health as well as encouraging our youth to explore the possibilities of 4H and FFA projects.
We are looking forward to the Delaware Poultry Club becoming a doorway to the wonderful world of poultry ownership. From their delightfully friendly personalities to their hardy and robust physical attributes, the Delaware is a marvelous bird for any chicken enthusiast. Whether adding to your flock, breeding or showing, we are certain you will enjoy their amusing personalities.
There is a wealth of information contained on this website and we trust you will take the time to explore, learn from, and perhaps join our growing family of Delaware enthusiasts. You need not own a Delaware to join. The only requirement is a desire to see the breed flourish.
